GODFREY GOODWIN
circa 1927 in Minnesota
Profession: U.S. Congressman

My grandmother Eleanor is pictured here with her beloved father Godfrey Goodwin. He received a law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1896 and went on to represent the state's 10th Congressional District in Washington, DC.

Eleanor has many good stories from this time in Washington, including being scolded by President Calvin Coolidge for running down the halls of the U.S. Capitol Building.

In 1933, Godfrey was killed in a fall from a Washington hotel window, an accidental death as ruled by a resolution of Congress.

He remains an inspiring part of our family and these PHOTOS show his vitality and enjoyment of life.
